We are committed to protecting your data.
We follow the best practices when it comes to managing and securing any stored data. Kindred is SOC2 Type 2 Certified.
All conversations between Kindred and a manager are confidential. These conversations are not shared with any external stakeholders unless a manager chooses to do so.
Managers and direct reports have control over what is recorded or not. Team members can remove Kindred and delete any stored meeting data anytime by typing a trigger phase in the meeting chat.
Every time Kindred joins a meeting, it shares a message with each participant to communicate its presence. During onboarding, Kindred shares the data that it collects with each manager and direct report.
Privacy FAQs
The Kindred bot joins and records 1:1s between a manager and direct report. This enables the AI coach to:
- Gather context about the manager’s communication and leadership style
- Summarize action items and feedback shared during the meeting
- Offer personalized suggestions to improve the manager’s effectiveness
We know that 1:1s are a valued time for sharing openly. We take the privacy and confidentiality of your data very seriously.
The Kindred bot is designed as a supportive coaching tool, not a monitoring system. It only joins scheduled 1:1s with the explicit goal of developing stronger managerial behaviors.
In pursuit of that goal, Kindred takes several measures to protect a manager and direct report's privacy:
- Conversational data is never shared with anyone other than the manager. This includes HR and higher-ups.
- Transcript are deleted after they are analyzed, meaning Kindred only stores and shares coaching-related summaries/feedback after each 1:1.
- Managers or direct reports can opt out of Kindred at any time.
We know that a bot joining 1:1s, which can often be a valued time for open sharing, can feel uncomfortable at first. We are committed to providing transparency and controls to protect managers and direct reports' privacy and help them feel more at ease.
Only the manager has access to the summaries and feedback provided by Kindred. No one else, including HR or their manager.
We treat Kindred's confidentiality similar to human executive coaching confidentiality standards.
If a manager or direct report is uncomfortable with the bot, they can opt out at any time.
In practice, we have noticed that direct reports or managers very rarely opt out.
If a sensitive topic is shared by accident, the manager or direct report can delete recorded meeting data before it is analyzed by typing "opt out" in the video call chat.
Further, the host of the meeting can pause or remove Kindred from the call at any time.
